Laying
the Groundwork...
It has been a busy few weeks working with the Klein Family and their
house is taking shape. On the job site, the basement walls have been
poured out of concrete, water proofing has been applied to the basement
and the backfill work is underway which builds the dirt back up to the
foundation. Meanwhile the plumbers are laying the rough plumbing pipes
and sewer connections before the concrete floor of the basement is
poured. A large crane arrives and lifts the structural steel beams into
place as they are set by the head carpenter John Vorce.

Meanwhile the Klein Family and Rosenthal Homes
team are busy at work in the office. Vice-President and co-owner Emily
Rosenthal and the Klein Family have been meeting weekly to finalize the
lighting plan, kitchen plans and begin selecting flooring styles and
colors. One of the biggest rewards of building a true custom home is
that the owner is able to work with Rosenthal Homes and have input into
each part of the construction process. As an example the family, their
designer and Emily Rosenthal have met several times to discuss where
furniture will be placed, how each room will be utilized and the
specific needs of each family member so that the lighting in the house
is placed in ideal locations for the family’s lifestyle.

While much of the progress is currently being
made underground and in the office, in the next few weeks you will see
this home sprout out of the ground and begin to take its final shape….
